After performing a short story inspired by the gardens at Ham House, which consisted of four fairies one from each season of the year, who came out from their hiding places for visitors to see, my group thought it'd be a magical story to be told during the christmas fairs. However, as we had performed it outside, we debated whether it would lose its magical element if we were to move it inside. Despite being a short piece that was created within around twenty minutes, I enjoyed it and felt it would work well for a family fun day, particulary taking the interest of young children. Perhaps spending a few minutes to find an appropriate place inside, (if we can find one that we think will make it work) will give us the oppurtunity to perform it for the fair. Excited at the thought of costume and make up for this piece too, although there should be more focus on the winter fairy as it will be for Christmas.

  1. You've got a really readable style Hannah. We are going to have to get hold of the stories for Christmas very soon. Do you think it better to write our own or to find some?

  2. I think it would be interesting to use a mixture of both. I think I would benefit from using my imagination to create our own using the house to give us inspiration. However, perhaps it would be nice to include some traditional stories aswell, that both the children and parents would be able to recognise. Perhaps it would also be interesting to find out what Christmas was like in those days, although once again I must remember to keep the focus of the fair as a fun day for families as opposed to it being a history lesson. I think there is close line between the two, which I hope will become more defined as the course goes on.

  3. The idea you had about the season fairies, is a great idea that could be developed for the final big summer project. Can you imagine the entire gardens of Ham House becoming a fairyland? Where all kinds of fairies live together? So many stories could be created around that world, like, possibly, the fairies lost their powers and need to go on quest to recover them, or something like that. There are infinite possibilities.
